We understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. At Reboot Occupational Therapy, we aim to make the process smooth, supportive, and transparent every step of the way.
Here’s what getting started looks like:
1. Reach Out to Us
You can start by completing our Intake Form or simply contacting us with any questions. We’ll ask for some basic information to get to know your child and understand the kind of support you’re seeking.
2. We’ll Be in Touch
Once we’ve received your inquiry, we’ll confirm receipt and follow up with available appointment times and any current waitlist details. We may also reach out by phone to ask a few additional questions, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as an appointment becomes available.
3. Initial Assessment
We typically begin with a 1:1 initial assessment session with your child. This is a relaxed, play-based session where we get to know your child, how they think, move, play, regulate, and connect. We observe their strengths, challenges, and how they engage in meaningful activities.
5. Comprehensive Assessment Report
You’ll receive a detailed report that includes:
A summary of assessment observations
Your child’s strengths and needs
Family-centred goals
Tailored recommendations and next steps
This report can be shared with your child’s teacher, support workers, or other therapists as needed.
4. Parent Consultation & Goal Setting
Following the assessment, we meet with you (the parent or caregiver) for a dedicated goal-setting consultation. This is your space to share concerns, ask questions, and work collaboratively to set goals that are practical, achievable, and truly meaningful for your family.
6. Therapy Plan & Ongoing Sessions
Based on the report and your family’s goals, we’ll recommend the most suitable therapy frequency (e.g., weekly, fortnightly, or review-based). All therapy is tailored to your child’s unique needs, and can take place at home, school, daycare, clinic (coming soon!), or online.
